New charter schools serving Linden, Perth Amboy students win state OK

LINDEN — A charter school for Linden, Elizabeth and Roselle middle-school students that focuses on character, leadership and culture has received state approval along with a virtual school that will serve high school dropouts from Perth Amboy, Camden, Neptune and Paterson.

The Dr. Therman Evans Charter School for Excellence in Union County and the New Jersey Virtual School for students in grades 10-12 were two of 23 new charter schools approved Tuesday — the largest number of charter schools approved in a cycle since the Charter School Program Act was signed in 1995.

Egg Harbor Township Summer School
Summer school for Egg Harbor Township students in grades seventh through 12th is being offered through the New Jersey Virtual School. Registration is open through July 5 at www.njvs.org. Cost is $350 per course. Call the Egg Harbor Township High School guidance office at (609) 653-0100.

EHT Recreation programs
The Egg Harbor Township Parks and Recreation Department is holding registration for adult modern dance, flag football, adult soul line dancing, and instructional soccer programs.
